Loran Scholars Program

The Loran Scholars Program offers 30 scholarships valued at up to $100,000 over four years, including mentorship and a summer program, as well as 40 finalist awards ($3,000) and 40 provincial awards ($2,000).

Candidates must:
  • Be in their final year of uninterrupted full-time studies in high school or CEGEP. (In Québec, students planning to attend university outside of Québec after only one year of CEGEP are also eligible to apply in their first year of CEGEP). Exceptions will be considered for those who have undertaken a gap year for academic pursuits or community service-based activities.
  • Present a minimum cumulative average of 85%
  • Hold Canadian citizenship or permanent resident status
Successful candidates are chosen on the basis of character, service and leadership.

Re/Max Western Canada Quest for Excellence Bursary 2015

The Quest for Excellence Program is a bursary program for grade 12 students in Western Canada.  It was established by RE/MAX of Western Canada to recognize the success and ongoing pursuits of Western Canadian students in regards to leadership and community contribution initiatives.

16 bursaries of $1,000 each to qualifying Grade 12 students.  In addition, the 16 bursary winners will be entered into a draw and one lucky recipient will receive a RE/MAX Hot Air Balloon ride for two. Bursary winners will be notified and all winners will be posted in April 2015.

The Quest for Excellence is open to all Grade 12 students attending high school from September, 2014 - March, 2015. Grade 12 students may not have participated in graduation commencement ceremonies in the past. Applicants must be a resident of one of the following provinces/territories.

    British Columbia
    Alberta
    Saskatchewan
    Manitoba
    Yukon Territory

Students are to convey the contributions they have made to their communities in a short online essay, maximum 1,250 words. Key qualities students should demonstrate are leadership, motivation and communication skills.  Other attributes may include volunteering, participation in charitable events or fundraising, and contributions that enrich the lives of others and their communities.

21st Skills Canada National Competition in Saskatoon!

May 27-30 - Prairieland Park, Saskatoon

Skills Canada  hosts annual Olympic-style skills competitions that provide a forum for secondary, post-secondary and apprentice students to compete in over 30 trade and technology competition areas.

September 20, 2014

The University of Alberta is hosting this annual event for "designers, creators, inventors, thinkers and dreamers" who would like to find out more about engineering programs there.

The day includes tours, displays, students projects, and information sessions. There are activities for all ages, right down to the 6-12 year olds.

Society of Petroleum Engineers (Lloydminster Section) Awards

Deadline: September 7
The Lloydminster Section of the Society of Petroleum Engineers donates these awards to worthy candidates to recognize graduating high school students from Lloydminster and surrounding areas:
·         Personal development
·         Academic Achievement
·         Contribution to school and community
The scholarships are intended to financially assist students who will be continuing their education in a post-secondary institute and who are majoring in SCIENCE or ENGINEERING with relationship to the petroleum industry. The applicant must be in full time attendance and a member of the current year’s graduating class. At the time of awarding the scholarship the applicant must be enrolled full time in a post-secondary program of studies at a university, college or technical school in Fall 2014.

2014 Education Scholarships - Saskatchewan School Boards Association

Each year the Saskatchewan School Boards Association offers two Education Scholarships of $2,500 each to graduating high school students who remain in Saskatchewan in post-secondary study. One scholarship is awarded to a student entering university in Saskatchewan and one scholarship is awarded to a student entering a technical institute in Saskatchewan.

SAASE and Clark Lewis and Anne Lewis West Coast Amusements Bert and Grace Dagleish Memorial Scholarships

AMOUNT - $1,500 will be awarded each to two successful applicants.
                    - $1,000 will be awarded each to two successful applicants.

APPLICATION PROCESS – Application forms will be provided to each Ag Society. It will be up to the individual Ag. Societies to nominate a student they feel deserving of                     the scholarship. An Ag Society must nominate applicants. The selection committee from SAASE will meet once the deadline has been reached and make a decision on the student, and award the scholarship.

APPLICANTS MUST:

  • Be residents of Saskatchewan.
  • Be planning to attend one of three post secondary education institutions in Saskatchewan – University of Saskatchewan, University of Regina, or SIAST.
  •  Be going into their first year of post-secondary education.
  • Complete the firs semester of their first year
  • Be nominated by an Agricultural Society.
APPLICANTS WILL BE SCORED IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS:
  • How complete the application form is filled out.
  • Future plans of the applicant.

The agenda for the day includes:
  • Academic Advising (first day of registration is May 9 so newly admitted students  can register for their first semester classes)

  • Students coming from out of town you can spend a night in our residences - for FREE

Hazel Asmussen Fund Scholarship

Deadline: April 30, 2014

This fund provides an annual scholarship for a student pursuing post-secondary education in the fine arts. Hazel, a retired nurse and local artist, had long been involved in community building. Donors have contributed to this fund since 2007.

Applicants must submit a completed application to the Battlefords and District Community Foundation by the deadline of 5 pm on April 30, 2014.

Applied Visual Media Workshop

Media is the focal point of of information transfer in our society.  The Media Arts Production and New Media Communications programs provide students with the knowledge to transform creative ideas into a variety of media formats, operate production equipment, and develop their creative talents in graphic and web design.
Register in SIAST’s Applied/Visual Media workshop and spend the afternoon finding out more about becoming a media guru or web specialist.  A pizza lunch will be provided beginning at noon.

Jack Moore Memorial Scholarships and Burgess Bursaries

Deadline: August 28, 2014

Saskatchewan Command, in cooperation with the Dominion Command of The Royal Canadian Legion are offering 10 scholarships of $300.00 each. In addition, Saskatchewan Command is offering 10 bursaries of $300.00 each. These are offered to students who have completed their Grade 12 and are continuing their education (first year) at University, Technical School (2 year course) or Business College (complete business course).
The Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of academic standing. The bursaries will be awarded on the basis of academic standing and financial need.
These awards are available to the sons/daughters, grandsons/granddaughters and great grandsons/great granddaughters of Veterans, Ex-Service or still serving Military or RCMP personnel.

Sears DX Canadian High School Design Competition

The Sears Dx Canadian High School Design Competition aims to promote the study and awareness of various design disciplines in high schools across Canada.  Prizes will be awarded in Industrial Design, Fashion Design, Costume Design, Architecture/Landscape Design, Interior Design and Graphic Design.  Prizes range in value from $200-$500.

If you like to record, mix and create music, then plan to enter the Universal Music Canada 2014 Nimbus Mix Contest! The grand prize is a $25,000 scholarship to attend the Nimbus School of Recording Arts in Vancouver BC. Starting April 1, 2014, students will be given the opportunity to create their own mix or remix of tracks from The Tragically Hip, Kate Morgan and Kardinal Offishall. 

Hy-Tech Drilling Scholarships

Hy-Tech Drilling Scholarships
 are awarded to students in Saskatoon & surrounding area who are leaders and role models in their schools and communities.  They offer 3 different $500 scholarships to support students who demonstrate a balanced lifestyle and commitment to a post-secondary education which will enhance their opportunity to develop innovative solutions. 

The scholarships include: (1) "Mechanical Mind" (Trade School) -- students pursuing an educational path in welding, machining, or mechanics will be considered priority applicants; (2) "Left Lateral Leap" -- students pursuing an educational path which emphasizes innovative thinking will be considered priority applicants; and (3) "The Creative Arts" -- geared to students pursuing a full-time post-secondary education within a Creative Arts discipline, but students pursuing an education in Jazz Band will be considered priority applicants.

Parkland College: Emergency Responder Program

Parkland College in Melville offers the only full time NFPA 1001 Professional Firefighter training program in Saskatchewan. This 13 week pre-employment program is the necessary first step to this career path. This program is both IFSAC and ProBoard registered and is delivered in partnership with Lakeland College Emergency Training Centre.

The two week Emergency Medical Responder program is the advance first aid training available to explore the work of Emergency Medical and is offered twice yearly. Parkland College offers the SIAST Primary Care Paramdeic Certificate program annually as part of their Emergency Service Training.

Great Plains College Scholarships

Deadline: April 30

Students who apply to Great Plains College to full-time student loan eligible programs by April 30 are eligible for Entrance Scholarships ranging from $500 to $5000. Grade 11's who apply before June 30, 2014 are eligible for a $1000 grade 11 early entrance award.

Great Plains still have seats available in Business Certificate, Educational Assistant, Electrician, Office Administration, Welding and Youth Care Worker programs.

Delta Co-operative Bursaries

The Delta Co-operative Association Limited is offering a bursary to each of the four high schools in our trading area. The amount of each bursary is $500.00. Two $500.00 bursaries are offered at Unity Composite High School, one bursary at Wilkie, one bursary at Luseland and one bursary at Macklin.

We also offer one $500.00 bursary at large to the high schools in our trading area where we do not have a Co-op branch.

Deadline Extension for U of R Education Program

The Faculty of Education has continues to accept applications all programs including Elementary, Middle-Years and Secondary (all majors) for Fall 2014 admission.  Any students who missed the original March 1 deadline may still complete the Teacher Education Application online and submit their transcripts.   Students are encouraged to read over the Faculty's tips on completing the application prior to submitting.  The application guide can be found here.

Pulse Producers Scholarship

Saskatchewan Pulse Growers (SPG) will be giving out five, $5,000 scholarships again in 2014. UBC Summer Scholars Program

When: July 13-16, 2014
Where: UBC's Okanagan Campus, Kelowna BC
What: The Summer Scholars Program focuses on environmental science and sustainability. Your lectures will be led by UBC faculty, and you will also get hands-on experience during field trips in the beautiful local environment.

Applicants must be:
  • entering one of their final two years of high school as of September 2014.
  • capable of undertaking instruction and study in English
  • 16–18 years of age (As of September 1, 2014)

New Construction Trades Site

Trade Up Saskatchewan takes people from high school to post-secondary to an entire career. It includes information on apprenticeship, all of the construction trades, related jobs, institutes, and programs available. It uses text, photos and video to provide information on construction in Saskatchewan.

The website also guides people through the steps to take in high school and beyond to find their places in their desired careers and also provides a map of technical training institutes and their program offerings throughout the province.


There is a page dedicated to each construction trade. Within that page, a listing of jobs for that particular trade is pulled in from saskjobs.ca to provide job seekers with a one-click search. In addition, links take web users directly to partner websites for more information.

The Monsanto Fund Opportunity Scholarship Program

Deadline: May 24, 2014
The Monsanto Fund Opportunity Scholarship Program is for Canadian high school students from family farms who have successfully enrolled at a Canadian educational institution (degree or diploma) in a first-year agriculture program.
If you have applied for entry into a college or university, but have not yet been accepted, you can still apply for a Monsanto Fund Opportunity Scholarship. However, if you are awarded a scholarship, you must provide an acceptance letter from your educational institution.
Successful applicants will each be awarded a scholarship valued at $1500, based on demonstrated academic standards and leadership in the community. Selection will be made by an independent panel.

Winsor and Guruparan Scholarships

These awards are granted, through competition, to Canadian citizens who are academically gifted, well-rounded, and pursuing their first undergraduate commerce/finance/business degree/diploma at a recognized post secondary institution.These awards were established by Sherry MacDonald, President and CEO of C.S.T. Consultants Inc. and are in the honour of Karthiha Guruparan and Bill Winsor.
This program is aimed at those students whose parents/guardians do not have a postsecondary education or received their post-secondary education outside of Canada. Applicants must be intending to pursue their first undergraduate commerce/finance/business degree/diploma at a recognized post secondary institutionin or outside of Canada.
The Awards Selection Committee will award $6,000 to one successful female applicant for the Guruparan Scholarship and $6,000 to one successful male applicant for the Winsor Scholarship, through competition.

Our Lady of the Prairies Scholarship

This scholarship is sponsored by the Our Lady of the Prairies Foundation and offered to students within the Living Sky School Division. Considerations include academic standing, community involvement, extracurricular activities and leadership. Wayne Eger ESL Scholarship

Deadline: April 15

The Wayne Eger ESL Scholarship fund of $1000 will be provided annually to a student who is a recent immigrant or refugee, is a Saskatchewan resident and is enrolled or about to be enrolled in a provincially recognized post secondary institution or enrolled to take PLAR exams which will further their education or professional development. The applicant has to demonstrate financial need.

CUPE 4747 Scholarship

Deadline: April 30
Amount: Minimum of $300.00
Application forms: Ask you guidance counsellor OR download the application here.
Students in grade 12, whose parents are members of CUPE 4747 are eligible to apply for this scholarship by submitting their high school marks and a letter outlining their future education plans to CUPE 4747. Proof of acceptance at a post-secondary school must be provided before the money is given.

Selection will be made by the CUPE Local 4747 executive.

Innovation Credit Union High School Scholarship

13 - $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to graduating Grade 12 students enrolling in a full-time, post-secondary educational program within a year. These scholarships are open to students that are members of Innovation Credit Union (or their parents/guardians are members). Applicants must be attending a post-secondary school other than North West College or Great Plains College. The selection is based on academic performance using  Grade 10, 11, and 1st semester of Grade 12 marks. Proof of enrollment is needed to receive the scholarship funds.

These $100 bursaries are granted to students deemed most worthy and in need of financial assistance. They must be used in the year awarded.

SIAST Program Updates

 Psychiatric Nursing diploma - Applications are not currently being accepted for this newly designated high-demand program. It will reopen for application at 8 a.m., October 1, 2014, for the fall 2015 intake. Applications will be accepted until 4:30 p.m., February 15, 2015 (Saskatchewan time). All supporting documentation will be required by 4:30 p.m. (Saskatchewan time), February 28, 2015.

Business Insurance diploma - Admission requirements: 9 of 12 Business Certificate courses, including ACCT 122 and BCOM 121. Note: Students must complete the Business certificate requirements and INS100 before being awarded the diploma.

Continuing Care Assistant certificate - Effective July 1, 2014, accepted applicants may be required to undergo an interview and will be required to provide evidence of a Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Search prior to entering the clinical component of the program.  At the discretion of the clinical agency, you may be declined access to a clinical placement based on the contents of the Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Search.  The cost of the Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Search is your responsibility.

Radiation and Environmental Monitoring Technician certificate - Effective July 1, 2014, admission requirements include Grade 11 with a minimum average of 60% in each of English Language Arts A20 and B20, Pre-Calculus 20* and Physical Science 20*.

New Program at SIAST

Telecommunications Networking Technician certificate - Telecommunications Networking Technician is a three-semester certificate program.  It provides a practical and analytical approach to telecommunications and basic computer networking.  Admission requirements to the program are: Grade 12 with a minimum of 60% in Workplace and Apprenticeship Math 30 or Foundations of Math 20 or Pre-Calculus 20.

Interdisciplinary Science Competition - University of Alberta

March 8 and 9, 2014
ISC is a unique scientific competition hosted by TeamUp Science and held at the University of Alberta. This two day event will combine practical experiments from biology, chemistry, and physics to bring solutions to real-world problems. The experiments are adapted from first-year undergraduate curriculum that allow high school students to experience university-level science up-close and personal.

Branch Scholarships - Saskatchewan Institute of Agrologists

 DEADLINE: April 15, 2014
The Saskatchewan Institute of Agrologists understands that youth are the future of our industry. To support youth in achieving their career in agrology related sectors, including agriculture, bioresources, food or the environment, the Institute’s six branches (Northeast, Northwest, Regina, Saskatoon and Yorkton) are each awarding a scholarship of $1000 to candidates who meet the eligibility requirements and demonstrate a desire to pursue a career in agrology.
SCHOLARSHIP: Six (6) $1,000.00 scholarships.

ELIGIBILITY
Presently a Grade 12 high school student, graduating in June
Have plans to enroll as a first year full-time student this fall in a Saskatchewan-based, post-secondary program related to agrology, such as agriculture, bioresources, food or the environment.  
The post-secondary program should meet the eligibility requirements to apply for registration with the Institute after graduation.
Must not be an immediate family member of current Institute staff or councillors

Scholarships associated with the National Union of Public and General Employees

Each year, the National Union of Public and General Employees (NUPGE) offers four scholarships that reflect its pursuit of equal opportunity for all workers. They are open to the children of the National Union’s 340,000 members who are starting a post-secondary education.

These include the Scholarship for Aboriginal Canadians, Terry Fox Memorial Scholarship, Tommy Douglas Scholarship and the Scholarship for Visible Minorities.

Important Deadline: U of S Engineering and Kinesiology

February 15 is the last day to apply for admission to the College of Engineering and the College of Kinesiology for the 2014-2015 academic year. No further applications to these colleges will be accepted past the application deadline. Students have until March 15 to supply necessary supporting documents.

University of Saskatchewan: Scholarships for International Students

February 15 Deadline
Value: $10,000
Eligibility: By applying for undergraduate admission starting in September 2014, international students (non-Canadian citizens paying differential tuition) will be eligible for consideration. The application deadline is February 15, 2014. Students must also supply the necessary supporting documents, pay the $90 CDN application fee and meet U of S admissions requirements (including English Language Proficiency) by March 15, 2014.
The University of Saskatchewan will award six scholarships valued at $10,000 CDN each for the 2014-15 academic year. International students (non-Canadian citizens paying differential tuition) entering any direct-entry college at the U of S will be considered for an International Excellence Award. Selection will be based on academic achievement.

University of Regina Entrance Awards

There are many U of R Entrance scholarships that look at a combination of your admission average and other extracurricular activities that require you to fill out an application. Award values range from $500 to $23,000.  All applications and supporting documents must be received at the University of Regina by the deadline.

Tuesday, April 8 - Canadian Association of Physicists High School Prize Examination

This is a 3 hour examination with a combination of multiple choice and long answer problems. National and Provincial awards are given. Top National students will be invited to participate in National Physics Olympiad Finals to select the Canadian team for the 45th International Physics Olympiad to be held in Astana, Kazakhstan in July 2014.

Wednesday, May, 14 - University of Saskatchewan High School Physics Competition
This involves at 1.5 hour multiple choice exam based on the Saskatchewan High School Physics Curriculum. Cash prizes are awarded when the winning student enrolls in a first-year Physics, Engineering Physics or Astronomy class at the University of Saskatchewan.
