Monsanto Fund Opportunity Scholarships

Deadline: May 25, 2012

The Monsanto Fund Opportunity Scholarship Program is available to Canadian high school students from family farms who are enrolled in their final year of high school as of May 25, 2012 and eligible to graduate from high school in 2012. Those eligible for a scholarship must be planning to enroll at a Canadian post-secondary institution (degree or diploma) in a first-year agriculture program.

If you have applied for entry into a college or university, but have not yet been accepted, you can still apply for a Monsanto Fund Opportunity Scholarship. However, if you are awarded a scholarship, you must provide an acceptance letter from your educational institution.

Successful applicants will each be awarded a scholarship valued at $1500, based on demonstrated academic standards and leadership in the community.

Saskatchewan Pulse Growers Association Scholarship

Deadline: Friday June 1 at 5:00 p.m.
  • Student or student’s parent(s) must be registered Saskatchewan pulse producers (i.e. they have sold or grown pulses in the last two years)
  • Student must not be an immediate family member of current SPG staff or Directors
  • Student must be accepted as a full-time student this fall in a Saskatchewan-based, post-secondary program that is associated with the pulse industry or agriculture (example: agriculture, natural sciences, engineering, nutrition)
Selection Criteria
  • Student must have a minimum Grade 12 average of 70%. Scholarships will be awarded on a conditional basis pending receipt of official transcripts
  • Student must have an interest in pursuing a career related to agriculture and the pulse industry
  • Student must have a history of demonstrated leadership
  • Student must have made contributions to school and community life
Application Requirements
  • Unofficial transcript at the time of application followed by official transcripts upon receipt
  • Proof of acceptance (conditional or otherwise) to a post-secondary program, followed by proof of registration
  • Written essay (maximum 500 words) on: How student has contributed to their school and/or community life; How student has demonstrated leadership;Student’s career plans and how these tie in with the pulse industry
