Canadian Forces Recruiting Centre Information

Students who are interested in a career as an Officer with the Canadianb Forces can apply for the university subsidization program which pays for all requierd tuition and materials and gives them a salary while they pursue their degrees. The Regular Officer Training Plan (ROTP)pays for education at aaccredited civilian universities or at the Royal Military College in Kingston, ON.

Canada World Youth

Canada World Youth offers international educational programs to young people aged 17 to 24 who will travel as part of a team of youth to another region of Canada and another part of the world. The program encompasses a variety of dynamic volunteer projects in the fields of biodversity, agriculture and forestry, community development, education, health and new media and information technologies.

CWY also offers Global Learner programs which are shorter international educational projects designed specifically for high schools, colleges, universities and youth groups.

Canadian citizens or landed immigrants between the ages of 17 and 24 are eligible to participate.

Nursing Education Program of Sask. - Changes

The application window for the NEPS program is now October 1, 2007 to January 15, 2008. For students applying for Category A seats, the codument dealine remains as March 15.

Category B students must have their documents submitted by January 31.

These changes are to allow for earlier admissions decisions.

Both Saskatoon and Regina will be increasing the number of seats in the NEPS program effective September 2007

CSI SIAST Events

The current series of CSI (Come, See Investigate) events is taking place on the following dates:

October 12 and November 8 - Palliser Campus, Moose Jaw
October 3 and 24 - Kelsey Campus, Saskatoon
October 11th and November 15 - Wascana Campus, Regina
October 4th and 25 - Woodland Campus, Prince Albert

CSI for Counsellors will take place on April 10 at Kelsey Campus and on May 1 at Wascana Campus.

Selected programs will be showcased, promoting learning and skill development through hands-on activities, tours and information sessions.

University of Guelph Scholarships

February 1 - Nomination deadline for awards based on academic excellence and student leadership. Applicants must be nominated by their school principal.

Generally, these awards go to students who enter university with a minimum average of 85% and have demonstrated leadership abilities including those in student government, athletics, environmental/social action, music, drama, peer tutoring, international affairs and volunteer activities.

Law Society of Saskatchewan Essay Contest

November 31 - Saskatchewan students in grades 10 to 12 are invited to enter this essay contest. The topic is "Do you believe that open and equal access to justice still exists or it a thing of the past?"

The first place winner will receive a $1000 cash prize and the student's school library will receive a matching prize to promote literacy and an understanding of the justice system. The runner-up will receive a $500 cash prize with a matching prize for the student's school library. Ask your principal, guidance counsellor or Law 30 teacher for more details.

Millenium Scholarships

December 14 - is the deadline for the Canada Millennium Scholarship Foundation's Millennium Excellence Award Program. This program encourage Canadians to make positive and significant contributions to the betterment of their communities. Potential Candidates should demonstrate a capacity for creative leadership and be able to commit themselves to the pursuit of innovation and academic excellence.
