Do you know any students interested in becoming teachers? February 15 is the deadline to apply to many of our Bachelor of Education programs for fall 2023. We are offering two online information sessions in January: one for high school counsellors and one for prospective students and their parents. Representatives from the College of Education will share a brief presentation about: Bachelor of Education program routes Admission requirements and application deadlines Testimonial from a current College of Education student Testimonial from a College of Education alumnus A question-and-answer period will follow the presentation. Health Science Educational Programs Available to Students Outside the Province

 Saskatchewan has agreements with post-secondary institutions in other provinces to reserve

seats for eligible Saskatchewan residents in specific health training programs not offered in

the province. These programs provide training for priority health sciences jobs in Saskatchewan.

Happening now! Whether your students want more information on their top program choices or are still exploring multiple options, there are events geared towards helping them find their path at the U of A available until the end of the week. Registration is available at uab.ca/programweek.

U of A Getaway

We are inviting 20 lucky Grade 11 students to get away to the U of A! Their adventure will include transportation reimbursement (up to a maximum based on location), accommodations, meals and a packed schedule of events. They will stay in residence, explore state-of-the-art facilities, uncover campus gems and experience U of A student life first-hand. Students can learn more and apply at uab.ca/getaway. The application deadline is January 31, 2023.

The Prestige Award deadline is December 1, 2022. Students must first apply for admission before they can complete their Prestige and High School Entrance Award applications. The Haskayne School of Business recognizes the importance of business acumen to a career, no matter what the role or industry. The Haskayne School actively works with community partners to build educational capacity, particularly in Indigenous communities, to help ensure students have the opportunity to attend university. The ASC Capital Markets Award for Indigenous Students was established in 2022 by the Alberta Securities Commission to support Indigenous students pursuing their Bachelor of Commerce degree at the Haskayne School, as part of the ASC’s commitment to advancing Indigenous Peoples’ participation in the capital markets. This newly established award, $7,500 per year, is offered annually to a full-time Indigenous student entering the Haskayne School. DID YOU KNOW? Our online Program Explorer may be a good place to start in helping students find a program that is right for them. Students can try it here and discuss their results with a student recruitment advisor or career counsellor. Entrance Scholarship Applications

Entrance scholarship applications are now open and will remain open until January 11, 2023. Students must first apply to the University of Alberta before they can apply for scholarships. More details can be found at uab.ca/awards.

Students can attend a Scholarships 101 session to learn tips and tricks for writing a strong scholarship application. Registration is available at uab.ca/recruitmentevents. 

To learn how to better support your students in applying for scholarships, attend our online Scholarships 101 Counsellor Lunch and Learn on November 21. Registration is available at uab.ca/counsellor. 

Tour Our Campus Get an insider’s look at our vibrant campus community with a North Campus or Lister Residence Tour. SK Polytech Open House

 

Sask Polytech will be holding an Open House the week of October 24 - 27, 2022, at all campus locations. Explore Sask Polytech through our online format with a Facebook Live session on Monday, October 24 featuring general information about Sask Polytech and your path to becoming a student. You can also visit one of four campus locations in person to learn more about the programs offered. The dates and locations are as follows: Tuesday, October 25: Saskatoon Wednesday, October 26: Regina Thursday, October 27: Moose Jaw and Prince Albert In addition to the general public session in the evening, there is also an afternoon session set aside for high school students at each campus.  Please encourage your students to attend. University of Regina Open House

Our Fall Open House is back! During this event students are able to visit the campus, chat with professors and their faculties, and meet other prospective students. Prior to this event (from October 3rd to the 12th) we will have an Early Discounted Application, during these dates students can apply online for a discounted fee of $50. They can then come to the Open House and receive their admissions package in person! If they want they can also apply on the spot for a $70 fee. I have attached a poster with more information for Fall Open House, we would truly appreciate it if you could share this with students or put it up on any screens within your school that they might have access to.

The Loran Award

 The Loran Award is an exciting opportunity for students considering university studies in fall 2023. The only award of its kind in Canada, the Loran Award is a four-year leadership enrichment program comprised of summer work experiences, mentorship, annual gatherings, an annual living stipend, a tuition waiver at one of 25 university partners, and a community of people working to build a better world.

The Saskatchewan Institute of Agrologists Scholarships

 The Saskatchewan Institute of Agrologists wants to help high school students jump start their post-secondary studies with a scholarship! 

There are six SIA Scholarships available:
•             Northeast Branch Scholarship

•             Northwest Branch Scholarship

•             Regina Branch Greg Mitschke Memorial Scholarship

•             Saskatoon Branch Scholarship

•             Southwest Branch Scholarship

•             Yorkton Branch Lin Boyes Memorial Scholarship

 

Eligibility Requirements:

Applicants must be a grade 12 student or recent graduate (within the last two years) planning to enroll in a post-secondary program related to agrology, such as agriculture, bioresources, food or the environment in the fall of 2023. Conditions may apply.
