The NAIT Buddy System provides an opportunity for prospective students to experience NAIT first-hand by spending a day teamed with a current student. For more information, contact the NAIT student recruitment centre at 1.877.627.3377.

SAIT - Student for a Day

Grade 12 students who are interested in SAIT programs can arrange to spend a day at SAIT by going to www.sait.ca

There, they should click on "Programs and Courses" and select from "Full-time Programs" to find the telephone number of the department offering the course which they would like to observe.

Lakeland College Financial Incentives

With a minimum 85 per cent average in Grade 11 subjects, students can now get a minimum $1,500 entance scholarship at Lakeland College.
If an average is higher, the scholarship goes higher.

an 85% average gets you a $1,500 scholarship
a 90% average gets you a $2,500 scholarship
a 95% average gets you a $3,500 scholarship
Use your marks in these courses to establish your average. Eligible subjects are English 20 plus four of the following or equivalent subjects:

Pure Math 20
Science 20
Biology 20
Chemistry 20
Physics 20
Social Studies 20
and a language other than English at a Grade 11 level

Burger King Scholars

December 15 Deadline: Awards are $1,000 each and may be used for educational expenses during the first year of college or post-secondary vocational/technical school.

Students may apply from public, private, vocational, technical, parochial and alternative high schools throughout the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. Applicants must be high school seniors who:

-Maintain a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale or the equivalent.
-Work part-time an average of 15 hours per week, 40 weeks per year (unless individual circumstances prevents the student’s involvement).
-Demonstrate participation in community service and/or co-curricular activities.
-Demonstrate financial need.
-Receive written nomination and signature from a school official and an employer recommendation (neither of whom is related to the student).
-Plan to enroll in an accredited two- or four-year college, university, or vocational/technical school by Fall 2007

Millennium Bursary Program (Atutomatic Application)

The Canada Millennium Scholarship Foundation offers bursaries to students on the basis of their financial need. The Foudnation gives out about 90 000 bursaries each year with a totla value of about $285 million.

On average, the bursaries are worth $3000 each.

By applying to your provincial or territorial student financial assistance program, you may be assessed as having a high level of financial need and meet the program's eligibility critera. If so, your province of residence will recommend you to the Foundation for a bursary.

SWEAT

The Art Institute of Vancouver is once again offering the Structured Work Experience and Training program for students in grades 11 and 12. Twenty-three programs will be offered at four campuses locations, providing 30 hours of hands-on work experience from March 24th to March 27, 2008. Program areas in clude culinary, new media, art, and entertainment.

ReMAX Quest for Excellence 2008 School Bursary Program

RE/MAX is once again offering twenty-four $500 bursaries to grade 12 students in Western Canada. Students must apply online, submitting an esssay based on their interest in a selected subject including leadership, sports, technology and trades, performing arts, fine arts, and community service.

Confederation Scholarship

Mount Allison University in Sackville, New Brunswick offers a $5000 renewaqble scholarship to students from outside of the province. One scholarship is offered per province.
