Duke of Edinburgh Award

The Duke of Edinburgh's Award programme was developed to encourage all youth ages 14 to 25 to be active, to participate in new activities and to pursue their current interest in four different areas. It involves goal-setting, fun and challenges. It is a non-competitive program and individuals benefit through their own efforts and grow from the experience. Bronze, Silver and Gold levels are included in the programme.

Aboriginal Youth Financial Management Awards

Deadline to Indicate Interest: November 15


The AFOA-Meyers Norris Penny LLP Aboriginal Youth Financial Managements Awards are open to First Nation youth in grades 11 and 12. Winners attend AFOA's National Conference and participate in a special Youth program designed to introduce youth to careers in Aboriginal finance and management.
There is a great demand both within First Nation communities and off-reserve for Aboriginal financial management professionals and there are many opportunities for those who want to pursue this career path and many sources of assistance.

Alberta College of Art and Design Open Houses

October 21 and 22 - 10 am to 4 pm
This open house will allow prospective students to attend brief presentations about the college and possible career paths within art and design. It will also be an opportunity to have you portfolio reviewed by a panel of faculty, provided that you have pre-registered.

November 5, December 3 - 10 am to 4 pm
These information sessions will allow participants to attend a lecture geared toward general admissions information and the benefits of art education. Tours will also be offered.

January 14 - 10am to 4pm

This winter information session and portfolio day will allow students to attend lectures and to receive feedback on their portfolios.

They consist of presentations given by practicing professional engineers, university professors and administrators, and university students with the objective of providing an accurate overview of what engineering is, what engineers do and the educational opportunities that exist in the province.
