CN Diversity Scholarships


Deadline: November 30, 2012

Through its Scholarship Program, CN will offer grants to support post-secondary education.

Eligible students must:
  • be  women or members of an Aboriginal community or veterans
  • must be enrolled in a technical, undergraduate or graduate degree in one of the following fields:
    • Engineering
      • Civil Engineering
      • Electrical/Electronics/Telecommunications
      • Industrial Engineering
      • Environmental Engineering
      • Mechanical/Agricultural & Biological Engineering;
      • Railway Infrastructure Engineering (and all things Railroad specific)
      • Software Engineering studies Or Computer Sciences
Transportation
      • Transportation & Logistics
Sales & Marketing
      • Business Administration/Marketing/Business Development
Human Resources, Aboriginal Studies & Law
      • Human Resources, Labour Relations
      • Aboriginal OR Native OR Indigenous Studies (including Native Law)
      • Law
Accounting and Finance
      • Accounting, Commerce and Finance
  • have average of 80% or above in the last three semesters of studies
  • are interested and available for a summer internship at CN in 2013

Senate Page Program

Each year, the Senate Page Program engages 15 undergraduate students who are enrolled at one of the four universities in the National Capital Region. Applicants must not have previous experiences as pages on Parliament Hill. They must be Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents and be able to communicate orally, at the advanced level in both official languages. For further information, click here.

Diamond Jubilee Essay Contest

Historica Dominion Institute is holding an essay contest in Honour of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. There are categories for both junior and senior high students. Prizes include an ipad 2 and a trip to Historica's Diamond Jubilee reception. Click here for more information.

House of Commons Page Program

Apply online from October to December

Each year, forty students are selected as pages in the House of Commons. This role involves assisting Members of Parliament and House Officials with their work. Applicants must be graduating from a high school and beginning studies at one of the four universities in the National Capital Region in the fall (with no academic interruptions). Other criteria include being fluent in English and French, having an overall average of at least 80%, having superior interpersonal skills and good judgement and having an interest in the parliamentary system.

Saskatchewan Agriculture Scholarship Program


The Who:
Grade 12 students and recent graduates (the past two years) in Saskatchewan planning to take agriculture-related post-secondary education beginning in the fall of 2013.
The What:
Ten scholarships worth $1,000 each.

The Why:
Agriculture in Saskatchewan, and Canada, is a modern, prosperous industry; it reaches far beyond occupations typically associated with farming and plays a large role in the strength of our economy. The scholarship is one of the first steps in launching your exciting career in agriculture.
The How:
Applicants need to:
  • Produce a three-minute creative video or write a well researched 750-word essay describing why agriculture, now more than ever, is a vibrant, diverse industry; and
  • Provide a letter of recommendation from an agriculture teacher, industry leader or community leader.
The When:
A video/essay, letter of recommendation and completed application form must be received by March 1, 2013 to be considered for the scholarship.

Shad Valley

June 30-July 26, 2013

Shad Valley is a four-week summer enrichment experience for students in grades 10, 11 and 12. The focus of the program is science, engineering, technology, entrepreneurship and leadership. It is a chance to experience campus life in residence at a top Canadian University (including the University of Saskatchewan) and to network with other students. DX Canadian High School Design Competition

Design Exchange has announced its 18th Annual DX Canadian High School Design Competition. The aim of the competition is to promote the study and awareness of various design disciplines in schools across Canada. The competition is open to all high school students, at the junior (grades 10 and below) and senior (grades 11 and above) levels. Prizes will be awarded at the two levels, in each of the four categories – Industrial Design, Fashion Design, Architecture / Interior Design, and Graphic Design.

TD Discovery Days in Health Sciences

University of Guelph President's and Chancellor's Scholarships

Schulich Leader Scholarships

Deadline: Tuesday, February 5


Canadian Schulich Leader Scholarships are undergraduate scholarships for students intending to enroll in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) areas of study at a minimum of one of the 20 selected universities (including the University of Saskatchewan).

All Canadian high schools, may submit one Schulich Leader Nominee who must possess at least two of three criteria:
  1. Outstanding community, business or entrepreneurial leadership
  2. Academic excellence
  3. Financial need
All participating universities are responsible for selecting the Schulich Leaders for their respective institution. In 2013, 40 Canadian Schulich Leaders will be selected – two Schulich Leaders at each participating university.
Each undergraduate scholarship is valued at $60,000 CAD.  The scholarship is distributed during each Schulich Leader’sterm of undergraduate study and will start with the academic year commencing in Fall 2013.
Schulich Leader Scholarships are part of a $100 million gift in perpetuity on behalf of UJA Federation of Greater Toronto and the Seymour Schulich Foundation.
