Are you a biology student who would make an excellent
engineer? The Schulich School of Engineering is offering a new way to enter the
University of Calgary engineering program for students who excel in Biology 30.
Starting this summer, they’re launching a pilot program to allow
students with a passion for biology to enter engineering. Applicants who
apply to Engineering for fall 2019, will automatically be considered for this
pilot program using Biology if admission with Physics is not granted.
Students admitted to Engineering with Biology will be part of a
four-week Bioengineering
Summer Institute course specifically designed to inspire engineering
enthusiasts. It connects students’ strength in biology with biomedical
engineering applications. Through interactive and project based learning,
students will be prepared with the necessary physics knowledge to succeed in
engineering.
Biomedical engineers are transforming medicine by designing new
adaptive technologies, improving diagnostic screening devices or helping find
cures and treatments for major diseases. Strong students in biology and
mathematics have traditionally been successful in engineering courses.
