Les Donnelly Scholarship

The Les Donnelly Scholarship is awarded annually up to a maximum of $2000. It is funded by the Saskatchewan Safety Council's Memorial Trust Fund which was established in the 1970's to help fund safety education and public awareness programs and events.
The recipient must be a Saskatchewan resident who is enrolled in a college or university level safety related program.

The Society of Management Accountant of Saskatchewan is sponsoring one high school scholarship in the amount of $1000.00 for a graduating high school student who is entering the accounting program at the University of Regina, University of Saskatchewan or SIAST. The scholarship will be paid towards tuition and the student will have CMA Associate Membership status while enrolled in the program. The scholarship will be awarded to the applicant with the highest GPA in grade 12.
To apply for this scholarship, the applicant will need to send a letter of application to the CMA office and attach an original high school transcript, along with a 250 word essay explaining why he/she has chosen to pursue a career in accounting.

Nels, Anna, and Evelyn Dahl Nursing Education Fund Award
The fund was established to provide financial support for an Aboriginal student from Saskatchewan pursuing post-secondary studies in Nursing. For the purpose of this award, Aboriginal is understood to include status Indians, non-status Indians, as well as Métis.
This Fund provides one annual award (the amount will vary annually based on endowment investment returns, etc.) to be used to assist the successful applicant in receiving education and training at a not-for-profit post-secondary institution of his or her choice. The award is made on the basis of these criteria:
1.Candidates shall be Saskatchewan residents of Aboriginal ancestry, either status or non-status Indian, or Métis.
2.Applicants should have an academic average of at least 70%, or be mature students with a commitment to succeed.
3.The scholarship recipient will forfeit the award should s/he be unable to provide a written confirmation of enrolment from the post-secondary institution s/he plans to attend by December 15th in the year of the award. In this case, the runner-up shall be awarded the scholarship.
4.While the Selection Committee shall use the above criteria to determine who is eligible for the award, the decision is at the committee’s discretion.

CRA Independent Video Producer Award
Deadline: May 30 - The Canada Revenue Agency is launching the second edition of "The Underground Economy: Not Your Problem?" contest on YouTube. They are inviting Canadians to create short videos concerning the risks and social impacts of participating in the underground economy.

This program will prepare individuals for employment in policing at the federal, provincial or municipal level as well as with various other law enforcement agencies. It is anticipated that this applied certificate level training will be accessed by a cultural crosssection of the population including Aboriginal people and new immigrants. The program will be transferable into the Correctional Studies diploma program
The Power Engineering Technology and Practical Nursing Diploma programs have now been designated as high demand programs, effective July 1, 2010. Applications to these programs have now been closed until October, 2010.
As of July 1, 2010, the Cytotechnology Diploma program will NOT be a high demand program any longer. Applications will be accepted on a first qualified, first admitted basis as of then.

Dalton Camp Award
The Dalton Camp Award will go to the winner or winners of an essay competition on the link between democratic values and the media in Canada. The award is available to up to two Canadians each year. Canada World Youth International Program
There are still limited places available in two of Canada World Youth's core programs. The Youth Leaders in Action is a six month program that brings 9 Canadian youth and 9 youth from another country together to share a common experience. Each team will live three months in a Canadian Community and three months in a setting in either Asia, South America, Eastern Europe, the Caribbean or Africa.
InterAction - is a two-six week intense and education experience which is based entirely within an international host community and has no Canadian portion of the trip.

Co-operative Youth Program (Camp)
Co-op Camp offers a leadership experience for youth aged 12 to 18, who are interested in personal development, leadership training, co-operative education, and recreation. Camps are held at Candle Lake, with bus transportation provided from Saskatoon. Leadership topics include communication, teamwork, values, self-esteem, personal development, community and cooperation.

The Canadian Printing Industries awards 50 scholarships of $1250 annually to students who meet all of the following criteria:
-must be enrolled in or plan to be enrolled in the first year of an approved program;
-must be enrolled for a minimum of two years , on a full-time basis, in a printing management or technical program (not art or design) in a post-secondary Canadian school

Design Competition
The aim of this competition is to promote the study and awareness of various design disciplines in high schools throughout Canada. The competition is open to all high school students in both junior and senior grades. Prizes will be awarded in four categories: Industrial Design, Fashion Design, Architectural/Interior Design and Graphic Design.

SIAST Campus Tours and C.S.I. (Come, See, Investigate)
Campus tours of SIAST are open to parents, teachers and students. These tours take place on pre-determined dates at each of the four SIAST campuses (Kelsey in Saskatoon, Woodlands in P.A., Palliser in Moose Jaw and Wascana in Regina). SARM Scholarship in Ag Safety and Rural Health
Deadline: February 5
This $1000 scholarship will be awarded to the student who submits the best farm safety essay accompanied by a completed application form. Applicants must be enrolled in Grade 12 for the 2009-10 school year, planning on studying at a post-secondary Saskatchewan school in the fall of 2010 (or studying out of province if the courses are not offered in this province)and must have completed the last two years of high school in Saskatchewan. Mathieu Da Costa Challenge
Deadline February 20 - The Mathieu Da Cost Challenge is an annual writing and artwork contest that is open to youth between the ages of 9 and 18. The challenge encourages young Canadians to learn about the contributions that Canadians of different backgrounds have made in building our country.

Project Hero Program at SIAST
SIAST has become the first Saskatchewan post-secondary institution to sign on with a Project Hero scholarship program that waives tuition and provides $1500 for books and supplies for children of soldiers killed in the line of duty, since 2002 while serving overseas in an active mission.
Applicants must have completed at least one grade of high school in Saskatchewan and meet the academic merit for entrance and have a minimum average of 65% from the first year for renewal.

Explore Program 2010
Application Deadline: February 28
Students who are interested in discovering another region of Canada while learning French can enjoy this program, which offers five weeks of learning, adventure, friendship and discovery. Courses are offered in spring or early summer, with the option of taking a job for the rest of the summer. Participants receive a $2000 bursary which covers tuition, instructional materials, meals and accommodation. Some schools offer the possibility of transferring credits for the course you take.

Students who are interested in discovering another region of Canada while learning French can enjoy this program, which offers five weeks of learning, adventure, friendship and discovery. Courses are offered in spring or early summer, with the option of taking a job for the rest of the summer. Participants receive a $2000 bursary which covers tuition, instructional materials, meals and accommodation. Some schools offer the possibility of transferring credits for the course you take.

Great Questions Essay Contest
The Historica-Dominion Institute is challenging young Canadians across the country to express their views on some important issues facing Canadians today. Using the book Great Questions of Canada, students are asked to write an essay on one of the six Great Questions debate topics. The winning entry will receive a $2000 cash prize, have their essay published on the website and win a trip to Ottawa for the award ceremonies in 2010. Professional Firefighting Course at Parkland College (Yorkton)
Parkland College's Protection and Emergency Services Training, in partnership with Fire Etc. offers industry training that meets the National Fire Protection Association 1001 - Professional Firefighting Qualifications.
This program is set up as a full-time program but does offer some flexibility for applicants. Students will travel to Vermilion to participate in live fire training for one week during the program. Part-time students may choose to complete specific individual modules.

Deadline January 22 - The Top 20 Under 20 National Award and Mentoring Program awards youth under the age of twenty who have demonstrated significant levels of innovation, leadership and achievement in all disciplines and fields (business, philanthropy, charitable works, government, entrepreneurship, etc).

Each year 40 students are selected from high schools across Canada to come to Ottawa and work as pages in the House of Commons. Starting in the fall of 2010, any student who enrols at the U of Regina and actively participates in the UR Guarantee program will be guaranteed a job within six months of their graduation. Katimavik: Get a Life
Katimavik is open to all young Canadians between the ages of 17 and 21 and is all expenses paid. This six or nine month program gives participants the opportunity to volunteer in community development initiatives across the country and develop valuable employment skills in the areas of civic engagement, leadership, healthy lifestyle, cultural discovery, official languages, communications, environmental stewardship,and project coordination.
