Great Plains College Update

 

As the grade 12 students are starting to make decisions about post-secondary, please note the following program changes at Great Plains College:   Youth Care Worker Second Year - Warman Suspended for fall of 2023, scheduled to return for the 2024-2025 academic year.   Power Engineering 3rd Class - Swift Current Suspended for May 2023. Scheduled to return May 2024.   Agriculture Science Certificate - Warman Permanently suspended at this location. Certificate in French as a Second Language

La Cité universitaire francophone at the University of Regina is offering this exciting 8-month program! It is a 30-credit full-time program that runs every year from September to April; an intensive program and the fastest way to learn French while staying in Regina. Students can add it to their diploma and it looks great on resumes!

 Students will have the opportunity to learn in a small group of about 10. The learning experience includes a total immersion into the French culture through events such as Le Festival du voyageur. The results are incredible as students start with a beginner level and can communicate efficiently by the end of the program.

 Our students also benefit from several scholarships such as the ACUFC $3,000 scholarship and the federal-provincial bursary of $500 per semester. And so much more!

 Students need a beginner level in order to get in. If they do not know any French at all that's okay too!

They can just take beginner classes this summer and start the program in September.

 We ask everyone to take our placement test prior to applying. It takes about 20 minutes and is a free evaluation that helps determine their level in French so we can advise them better.

University of Alberta Access Awards Applications for the Discover University of Alberta Award and the Turtle Spirit Pathway Award for First Nations, Métis, and Inuit Students are open until February 15. These awards are available to incoming students to the U of A who have demonstrated financial challenges and barriers to attending university and who have not completed any post-secondary coursework. Up to $8,000 is available in annual award funding. Sam Hofer Memorial Scholarship

Titan Livestock (Moose Jaw) is proud to present the Sam Hofer Memorial Scholarship fund again for 2023!

Applicants must be passionate about agriculture and entering or currently pursuing an agricultural related program full-time at a Canadian college, university or apprenticeship (trade) institution.

Titan Livestock (Moose Jaw) will award a scholarship of $1500 to the winning applicant(s) that can demonstrate their passion and potential through a 300-500 word essay describing themselves, their current involvement in Canadian agriculture, community and extracurricular activities, what has inspired them to pursue a career field in agriculture and future goals for themselves in the Canadian Ag sector.

COMM 101 course and Cindy Lowe's Financial Literacy & Entrepreneurial Spirit: Pre-Requisites for Life In its 16th year, the Haddock Entrepreneurial Speaker Series featured Edwards School of Business alumna Cindy Lowe (B.Comm. 1996), whose career spans over 30 years. Read more and watch her presentation titled Financial Literacy & Entrepreneurial Sprit: Pre-Requisites for Life. Grade 12 students interested in learning more about financial literacy and entrepreneurial spirit are encouraged to register for Edwards' online business course, COMM 101, by June 30, 2023 to start in Fall 2023. In COMM 101 Early Start, students will learn about: understanding money, banking, and credit mastering financial management understanding personal finance and investments creating businesses – the importance of entrepreneurship “100% of students who took this class in September 2022 would recommend it."

 

January 31: Deadline for for first-year guaranteed spots in USask Residence The last day for prospective first-year students to apply for a guaranteed spot in USask's Voyageur Place Residence is Tuesday, January 31, 2023. Living in residence is a great way for students to meet new people, get involved in campus life, and make the most of their university experience.
