The Illumination
Conference has been a long-standing tradition at the University of Saskatchewan. This year
we are shifting the focus to start a conversation about
inclusion in Engineering.
The conference is
focused on providing high school and university-aged students an opportunity to
learn about
the first-hand experiences from Engineers from minority
groups. Rosanah Santos, a Professional Engineer will be speaking about her
career path and experiences as a woman in engineering. David Michealson
will speak about his journey through the engineering industry, academia,
and experiences as a professor and as an Indigenous person in Engineering. We
hope that these perspectives from inspirational speakers might spark
an interest in Engineering for students who may not have considered
this profession before.
These presentations will
be followed by technical speakers provided by The University of Saskatchewan
Nanotechnology Student Council, and a presenter provided by the Power and
Energy Systems IEEE Student Chapter for any students interested in learning
more about the many career opportunities within engineering.
